Kansas City + St. Louis

BB Events Company.

A Kansas City wedding DJ and full-service event team with two domains and no single home. We built one booking-focused site that serves both markets: published pricing, eight city pages across a 250-mile radius, and a questionnaire that does the qualifying before the first phone call.

The challenge

A crowded market, two domains, and no price on the page.

Wedding entertainment in Kansas City is a full field. Established DJs with years of reviews, plus the aggregators, WeddingWire and TheKnot, sit on top of the results couples actually use to shortlist. Standing out means being findable and being obvious about what you offer.

BB Events had a second problem most businesses do not: two domains, one for Kansas City and one for St. Louis, and no single site either one pointed at. Splitting the content across both would have split the search authority too.

And like most of the category, pricing lived behind a contact form. Every inquiry started with a conversation about budget that could have been settled on the page.

The approach

Answer the buying questions before the call.

Publish the price

Most wedding DJ sites make you fill out a form to learn what anything costs. We put all three packages on the page with real numbers, plus an a la carte list for ceremony hours, officiating, coordination, uplighting, and the 360 photo booth. Couples self-qualify before they ever call.

City pages for the real service area

Eight dedicated location pages covering Kansas City, Overland Park, Lee's Summit, St. Louis, Columbia, Jefferson City, Topeka, and Wichita. The 250-mile radius is encoded in the LocalBusiness schema, so the coverage claim is machine-readable, not just marketing copy.

Anchored on what people actually search

Live SERP recon before a word was written. Every ranking competitor anchors their title tags on wedding DJ, including the ones who call themselves an entertainment company internally. Searches for entertainment company pull wedding planners, a different market entirely. So the site leads with wedding DJ and carries the full-service story underneath it.

A questionnaire that does the first call for you

Date, venue, guest count, package interest, and the details that decide whether a booking is a fit, all captured before the conversation starts. Paired with the HoneyBook booking portal so an inquiry moves to a contract without a manual handoff.

The lesson

Name yourself what your customer types.

BB Events is a full-service event team. DJ, MC, coordination, officiating, lighting, photo booth. The instinct is to lead with the biggest version of that: entertainment company. We checked before we built, and the search data said no.

Every competitor ranking for this work anchors on wedding DJ, including the ones who describe themselves as entertainment companies on their own About page. Searches for the broader phrase surface planners and coordinators, a different set of businesses answering a different question. There is no independent demand for the label, only for the job.

So the site leads with the words couples actually search and sells the full team underneath. The positioning did not shrink. The front door just got put where people are already knocking.
